SAIP JOINS THE WHP PROGRAM – WORKPLACE HEALTH PROMOTION

A first step in building an environment in the company that promotes the adoption of positive health behaviors and choices.
SAIP has decided to join the Program “Workplaces that Promote Health – WHP Lombardy Network,” a project based on the model promoted by the WHO and whose main objective is to promote organizational changes in workplaces in order to make them environments favorable to the conscious adoption and dissemination of healthy lifestyles, contributing to the prevention of chronic diseases.

The WHP program has been recognized as Good Practice by the Ministry of Health and as part of the European Commission’s initiatives dedicated to the prevention of chronic diseases and active aging; it is promoted by the Lombardy Region in our territory through ATS Insubria, which concretely supports the companies from a methodological and scientific point of view, providing its expertise.

The WHP Lombardy Network is the network of companies that are committed to implementing effective and lasting actions that promote the spread of healthy lifestyles and the adoption of positive health behaviors and choices, in their own interest and in the interest of workers as well as the community.

The program’s goal is in line with SAIP’s commitment to social responsibility and to our employees and collaborators, which has already been expressed in the Group’s Sustainability Report; we firmly believe that the health, well-being and safety of all workers are fundamental to sustainable growth.

As known, the WHP program draws attention to some key areas crucial to health on which improvement actions need to be implemented:
– eating habits
– active lifestyle
– actions to contrast health risk factors, such as smoking or improper alcohol consumption
– actions to contrast pathological addictions, such as drugs and gambling – promotion of home-work reconciliation.

What are we doing in SAIP?
In recent months at Saip, we have been engaged in the analysis of our working environment and have identified the areas of greatest criticality and defined priorities for action.

This year, we will focus mainly on two themes:
– Promoting the competent and conscious adoption of healthy eating behaviors
– Creating a “smoke-free environment” by encouraging tobacco cessation


For the implementation of the improvement actions we will be supported, first of all, by the staff of the Health Protection Agency, ATS Insubria, which provides the member companies with methodological and organizational guidance, information on territorial initiatives and training courses, and then also by other partners such as, for example, Penna Nera, the ONLUS Social Cooperative Society based in Mariano Comense (CO) that has been pursuing the inclusion and autonomy of people with disabilities for more than 30 years. Penna Nera’s young people will be responsible for bringing us a fruit, or healthy snack, every week.

In addition, being able to share the journey through the WHP network and Confindustria Como, which, through moments of confrontation encourage the exchange of best practices and new ideas, offers important support to companies in creating a work environment that contributes in fact to the health of those who work there.

The WHP project in SAIP will soon be exported to other companies of Pozzi Industries Group.
